Case Study

Client - ICON Construction

The combination of the Icon Co and Cockram businesses in 2018 created an unrivalled ability to deliver a fully diversified range of construction services and scale of projects. The inspiration behind the union was to leverage the diverse sector experience of Cockram with the larger D&C experience of Icon Co. Today, we are one of Australia and New Zealand’s largest construction providers with over 80 projects ranging in size from $0.5 million to $400 million and annual revenues in excess of $1.7 billion.

The Chief Information officer of Icon Construction, Stephen Pianta had established contact with Inniti regarding proposals of consolidating end-user machines, user accounts and servers within a single domain. Icon had previously been operating off of two separate domains; of which one of the two domains is of a legacy build and is therefore to be retired – in the closure of the domain in question, the data and information needs to be consolidated and integrated with the newer existing domain as efficiently as possible, with an expected project completion time of 3 months.

In order to make a seamless transition between migrating to the main domain and the closure of the legacy domain, Inniti’s staff had taken a standpoint of such that is focused on efficiently and seamlessly transitioning and integrating the data and information.

In doing so, each user apart of the two domains were contacted and instructed individually on how to migrate to the newer domain to absolutely ensure that the operation runs satisfactorily with minimal errors. Inniti successfully fulfilled Chief Information Officer, Stephen Pianta’s requests through migrating all active end user machines to the newer and improved domain along with migrating the end user profiles to the new accounts, of which was achieved by creating identical users, security groups and resource accounts on the new domain for quality assurance to ensure that no errors are made through carrying out the migration of data and information with little to no change being made to the accounts.

Furthermore, mailboxes were attached to the new domains’ accounts, with the end user machines attached to the new domain – and finally, the administrative local accounts were to be audited, followed up by providing end users with assistance in setting up their e-mails on their own personal mobile phone.

The network of which Icon operates off of is now much more easier to maintain and access, as now there is only one domain that the company operates off of – in addition, the information that was once available across two different domains is now centralised, meaning that the efficiency of which employees operate over the domain is much more streamlined.

Inniti carried out this operation in emphasis of performing the necessary tasks for the project in a manner in which would not impact the company’s ability to perform, allowing the employees of Icon to be able to function as normal throughout the procedures undertaken during the three month project.
